Into the Unknown

Andrew and I received and email this morning letting us know that Darla had the baby boy on Monday, June 22.  He is doing well, we think.

Darla called our caseworker last night here is what our caseworker wrote,

“She has mixed feelings as expected, but cried when she asked if you both would still be interested in adopting her baby.  She believes that she cannot take him with her and that adoption is best for him.  She stated that, when he leaves the hospital (which is not planned as yet), she only trusts the two of you to care for him.”

So it looks like we are moving forward with Darla.  But you know this is not a straight path.  The caseworker is meeting with Darla on Monday, we will know next steps on Tuesday.

Hard to be in the waiting while there is a little life in the hospital, so appreciate your prayers.

  1. Dear Andrew and Liza,
I will be praying for you both as you wait to hear more from your case worker. I know this has been a roller coaster for you but your love for the Lord and obedience to His call on your life has been such a beautiful testimony. Hang in there and please keep me informed.
    Much love and prayers,
    Marcelle

  2. Oh my WORD!! You must be just on the edge of your seats. So hard to keep calm when so much hangs in the balance and it could go either way. What are the laws like where you are, in terms of how many days/weeks/months does the birthmother have where she could change her mind after she places the baby with the adoptive family?
I will be keeping you all in my prayers.
    love, Bethany

  3. Thank you so much for the update. We are praying for you, this little one and for the birth mom – that God’s will will be done. We love you and wait expectantly with you.

  4. How unbelievably difficult this must be for everyone involved. I will be praying for that baby- that God put him in the home he can grow and do amazing things. I hope this is going to be your little prince. We’re praying!

  5. Holy Moly!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I will be praying for y’all and Darla. My heart goes out to her. I cannot even imagine having to make that decision. It takes some serious stones to make the right choice in that situation- either way it goes.

Love y’all and praying the best for all parties involved- Sharps, Baby Boy, and Darla!

  6. Thank you so much for being open and sharing this new step. You, Andrew, baby boy, and Darla are being covered in prayer. I am especially asking Spirit-filled wisdom for you and Andrew. May you know with clarity how God is calling you, how he is not – and may you step forward in faith, as so many before you have done. Your situation still reminds me of Abraham, who was called “out” – to a land he did not know, when he didn’t really “feel like it”, to a location that wasn’t given until the very last moment.

    You are loved!

  7. P.S. I think it’s also interesting that Abraham is called “righteous” for his FAITH – not necessarily for his specific actions. (Heb. 11: 8-9)
