For our Friday posts, Liza and I will be providing a flashback to a favorite adventure we shared together. The idea is to keep it a surprise from each other so we get to experience it along with you, our wonderful adventuring companions. So without further ado…
I thought I would start at the beginning. When I first met Liza, I had no idea how fun she could be. Liza was working with teenagers at Grace Chapel and was and is very skilled at coming up with games on the spot. Our paths crossed when we lead a group of teenagers into the jungles of Venezuela together. As part of the preparation for the trip, we did various team building and character building exercises with our group of kids.
My first adventure with Liza was a photo scavenger hunt in Boston. The three leaders headed into the city and spent the day taking photos of various sites and landmarks in the city. One of my favorites was the picture below. We actually were standing underneath this light when one of the kids came over puzzled because they could not find this strange looking light.
That day of planning I so tried to impress Liza with my “knowledge” of the city and with all the buildings I had worked on as I had been involved with masonry and waterproofing for a couple years. I do not know that she was all that impressed, but we had a lot of fun.
I love adventuring with Liza. She is remarkable in preparing for adventures, enjoying and making them fun in the midst and finding great ways to reflect back on them so we remember them for years.
